It’s time for February gi giveaway! Tell us something good that you accomplished or something nice that someone else did for you last month for a chance to win a Fenom gi. Good luck!
*If you are a sponsored athlete or a brand ambassador for another gi company, you will not be eligible to participate in this giveaway.
I’m a two-stripe purple belt, and I have agreed to start teaching a ladies class at my BJJ school. It’s my first “this is my class” Jiu Jitsu teaching experience. I’m super nervous but at the same time excited. ☺️
That’s awesome! You’ll do amazing!
I am finally getting more comfortable in the No Gi class and am loving working spider and butterfly guard in the gi.
I hope this is where we are suppoesed to leave the brag… This past month I have restarted my training in order to combat both weight gain and autoimmune pain/fatigue. During my restarting period, when I was only going once per week, my friend told me about how she was going to restart too because she was verbally assaulted at a local restaurant. So I have been working with her to help teach her goals of fitness and confidence by adding more days to my regimen. Because of this I have lost another 5 pounds and am in less pain than usual.
My incredible husband bought me my second Fenom gi for my birthday last month. Incredibly nice of him 😉 something I accomplished was started taking Judo class to help improve my takedown game in BJJ. This was a big step for me to move outside my comfort zone and try something new and difficult
I’ve found myself again. I started putting myself first (I have 2 youngs kids) afew times a day to lift weights and do kickboxing. The negative thoughts are still there but I’m better at telling that side of me to stfu and move on. I’m also in the process of learning to teach women’s self defense thru Gracie university WE! This momma needs a new gi. The ones I have are pre-baby#2 and i don’t plan nor want to be that small again.
Every weekday (yes, every single one!) in February my boyfriend got up extra early to make me a coffee and a breakfast smoothie to take with me to work as my commute has been ridiculously long and I’ve been having a tough time in my job.
As a Master 3, new mom of a 10mo old, new Brown Belt, I won gold at the IBJJF Atlanta Open competing in the Adult division, wearing my favorite solid black Fenom gi!! Thanks!!
I got promoted to blue belt last month! This will allow me to begin shadowing classes and hopefully start teaching a women’s class in the near future.
February was a tremendously stressful month. Two different family emergencies caused me to have to drop everything and leave town immediately (one while I was in the middle of teaching BJJ). My birthday was on the 24th, and my wonderful husband and our BJJ friends surprised me with a weekend away, lavender bath / relax products, fuzzy blankets, tea, books, etc to help me unwind. I could not have possibly been more grateful. I don’t know what I would do without these guys.
I had awesome training partners this month. I’ve been struggling with some health issues and haven’t been able to roll a lot. When I was able to get in the mats my partners were awesome. They let me work where my body was at. Love my gym!
Got my blue belt 12/2017
Competed in Worlds Tournament (Las Vegas)
Turned 60 9/2018
I probably own at least 6 Fenom gis of various sizes and can always use another one!!
Woot! Woot! Go you!!!
Last month I managed to accomplish so much!
In terms of my own Jiu Jitsu, I suffer with major spinal issues. But, I could never give up my training. Because of the pain, I became scared of sparring. I went a whole year and a half with no sparring. Last month, with the help of my partner (who’s also my training partner) I got back into sparring! Yes it was slow to begin with, but quickly the movements began to flow properly again, and I started to remember ‘old’ techniques that I thought I’d totally forgotten. Last week I managed to spar at every lesson (4 times a week), and I’m slowly getting my mojo for rolling back!!
Last month I received my very first stripe on my white belt!! Super excited to continue to grow and learn this amazing sport!
I have signed my 8 y/o son and I up for our very first bjj competition! 😆 We are both 4-stripe white belts. We’re both nervous and excited but it’s exciting to be trying something new together.
Hello!
I wanted to share with you guys why on my Jiu Jitsu journey so far. I started this past November shorty after my husband left for his fourth deployment. Jiu Jitsu has become my solice as well as has helped past the time tremendously while he’s been away. Our son has also been in BJJ for a little while and I am thankful for the time we have spent together, especially with me working on my bachelor’s degree. This past month, my son and I were getting ready for practice. He watches me put my gi in my bag and goes, “Mama, I’m really happy that you’re doing Jiu Jitsu with me.” I asked him why’s that? “Because when dad first left, you were so sad! But now you’re so happy and I’m just happy that you’re happy!”
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t cry because I totally did. This sweet little man has always done his best to put a smile on my face while his dad is gone. Here I am thinking I’m the one who is always taking care of him but he’s been taking care of me this whole time!
Last month they started a new women’s only class at my gym, taught by the female black belt owner. I was feeling nervous about attending so I reached out to my friend who also struggles with nerves getting in the way of training sometimes and asked her to be my “date” to class.
This got us both in the door and we loved it! Excellent teaching and a slightly different format from the other classes. It is a major benefit to have added this class to my training schedule.
As a bonus, the first 4 gis she and I bought between us were all Fenom! Great product and great value!
I received my blue belt back in December and just last month I started to feel like I deserved it. Sounds awful to say but I didn’t feel ready despite what everyone said. Happy to say my attitude is changing!!
