We are kicking off a new Brag and Win series. Every month one lucky lady will win a Fenom gi of her choice. All you need to do is tell us something good you have done in the past month, no matter how big or small, or something good that happened to you. Let’s hear it!
*If you are a sponsored athlete or a brand ambassador for another gi company, you will not be eligible to participate in this giveaway.

I did squat jumps for the first time! I tore my acl during a judo drill last spring and had surgery to replace it. These squats were the first time doing them in almost a year! Making my way back in to the mats 👊

I’m a personal trainer. I’ve been posting a lot of my workouts on social media trying to encourage more women to get into exercise as fun as well as bjj and boxing. As a result a couple women had courage to try certain exercises they thought they couldn’t do and were completely successful at them. I was really proud of them!

I decided to compete for my first time at a bjj tournament a little over a year ago. While competing I had a freak accident move done to me which completely broke my humerus bone in half and dislocated my sternum bone. I had to have my arm plated and screwed in place. It took me 6 months to get back to bjj and just recently started to feel comfortable again to roll with others. I’m wanting to try again to compete which I’m looking forward to doing!!

I helped a chicken cross the road. Literally. It was sitting in the middle of the road and cars were swerving around it. I nudged it along to safety. So I guess the answer to the question of “why” is because I shoo’d it across. lol

It’s tax season again and every week I do pro-bono preparations and filings for low income families. I really enjoy meeting new people and seeing the same families come back year to year. It’s great to sit down with them and see how they have fared. You’ve got to build the community you want, on and off the mats.

I survived my kids after two full days stuck in the house during the polar vortex. It was -50F outside with no chance of playing outside, and everything, including daycare, was closed.

I testified on behalf of a bill I proposed to my state legislators to require human trafficking awareness training in commercial driver’s license courses. Blew a hole in my schedule especially when school unexpectedly was dismissed early for weather but my 5th grader then also got a first hand civics lesson 🙂

I convinced his Mom to get him to try BJJ. He absolutely loved it! BJJ will help him so much!! The best thing is that my gym is giving him a scholarship for 6 months!

A few weeks ago a new girl visited our Jiujitsu gym as she just moved to the area and was checking out places to train. I noticed she was wearing a loaner gi even though she was a blue belt and she said she left all her gis in her hometown so I gave her two of mine (they were a bit too big for me and fit her much better). She just competed in a charity tournament in San Diego yesterday to raise money for cancer (Tapout for cancer) and ended up raising over $1,000! She texted me “We won! And by “we” I meant me and your gi”. Very proud of her!

I went to my first ju jitsu class! It was so engaging and fun. I used to do wrestling before I lost a kidney. I never thought id be able to do any grappling again. So this is such a rewarding thing to try out. I could not afford the monthly classes so I applied for a volunteer position. I got accepted and today had my first shift. I feel so lucky to be able to do these classes! So if I had anything to brag about its overcoming my anxiety to go to classes and volunteer. Thanks for the opportunity to win. Your gi’s are gorgeous!

This last month I helped a girl at work get her credit score up 100 points (from the upper 400’s to the upper 500’s). She really wants to buy a house for her and her two kids, but her credit was destroyed four years ago by a past relationship that ended in domestic violence. She’s been living in a small 1 bedroom apartment with her kids ever since, sleeping in the living room with her youngest child. Reliving that time of her life has been tough as we’ve be working on things, but we’ve made great progress so far and I know we’ll continue to do so over the next few months. 🙂
